Somehow, April is coming to an end and May is beginning, which means a crazy busy month! May is filled with end of year events, field trips, and the final push of academics. Even though it is going to be a hectic month, we are not stopping academics! Students should be prepared to push to the very end, so we can make every last moment count.
In math, we are continuing our work on expressions, generating expressions for area and perimeter using algebra tiles, combining like terms to generate equivalent expressions, and will be adding inverse operations with algebra tiles this week. Students will have homework Monday (6.2.4 Review Preview) and Wednesday (6.2.5 Review Preview). In social studies, we are continuing to learn about the Hindu religion, reviewing the caste system and completing an activity, then discussing Hindu beliefs about Brahman, deities, and dharma. We are also starting a new map this week, the 13 colonies! Students will have a map quiz next Friday, May 11 over the 13 colonies, in addition to previous map material. In spelling, we are finishing up our second to last list this week/next, with one more spelling list following. Students will be wrapping up their spelling grades in the next few weeks. Upcoming Dates: (Warning: There are a lot! These are all of the dates I know of for the rest of the year, so you can start planning!) This week:
