The snow is on its way!! With that in mind, we will probably be remote for 1-3 days this week. If we are remote, students have video calls with their classroom teachers at 8:30 and 10:30, with specials at various other times. All times will be updated on the 6th grade website once the call has been made officially. On remote days, it is especially important to check in with your student and make sure they are getting all of their work completed! Food packs should be coming home with all 6th graders as well for this week.
As a reminder, we are almost halfway through Q3 and some grades are currently rather low. Take a look at grades and missing work, which teachers are trying to keep as updated as possible. Grades are being updated regularly, with Google classroom as an option for grades/missing work as well. The 6th grade website is the best place to look for daily directions, reminders, and updates about learning! This is also where your student should start each day that we are remote or when they are absent for any reason. This week in math, we are working on chapter 5 of CPM, which is all about multiplication and area. This week (as well as some of last week), we've been reviewing multiplying fractions. We will also be starting multiplying mixed numbers today! Over the rest of the week, students will be completing a variety of activities that go along with fraction/mixed number multiplication, as well as converting between mixed numbers and improper fractions (fractions greater than one). If we are remote for part of the week, that review will continue digitally, both during and after our meets. At the end of this post, there will be a list of the homework that is expected to be completed throughout the week. Check it out! You can also see a day by day breakdown of classwork and homework on the 6th grade Google site! This week in science, we are starting our next unit - mutations! This week, students will complete vocabulary and Lesson 1 Animation, which focuses on the mystery of a six toed cat. Towards the end of the week, students will also begin working on Lesson 1 Phenomenon, which is about how and why organisms are genetically modified. Math/Science classwork/homework this week:
