Good evening! It's our last week in February already!
This week in math, we are continuing with chapter 5, with a focus on transitioning between multiplying fractions and mixed numbers (last week) to multiplying decimals. We are also stopping to answer the question "Does my answer make sense?". Monday and Tuesday will be spent on lesson 5.2.1 (making sense of decimal multiplication), Wednesday and Thursday on 5.2.2 (fraction multiplication number sense), and beginning 5.3.1 (rearranging areas) on Friday, which starts our mini-unit on area. We should be ready for our chapter 5 test in a couple of weeks! This week, students will have homework on Monday (5.1.4 Review Preview), Tuesday (5.2.1 Review Preview), and Thursday (5.2.2 Review Preview). Students should also be working on corrections and late/absent work! This week in social studies we are focusing on becoming experts on one level of the Egyptian social pyramid, learning about how the daily life was influenced by their social class. Students are working in groups to create a visual display, which they will share with their classmates before completing the note pages. They will have a lesson packet to complete as well. In spelling, students received their new lists today, so all work should be completed (at home) by Friday, March 6, with spelling tests taking place on that day as well. IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS! AR:
Have a wonderful week! Ms Kennell
