Can you believe next week is homecoming already!?!? This week, Student Council met and decided on the following dress up days for next week.
Monday: Beach/Tourist Day
Tuesday: Class Color Day (6th grade is BLUE)
Wednesday: Meme Day (VSCO is a Meme!)
Thursday: Throwback Thursday (dress from a decade of your choice)
Friday: Spirit Day
*Please remember that all dress attire must comply with the Student Handbook*
We will also be sending home more information soon about our procedures for the pep assembly at the high school and parade dismissal for next Friday.
I've been slacking with my updates on here this year, and for that I apologize! Make sure you are signed up for Classtag and are actually receiving messages! That is how we are doing much of our communication this year, including parent teacher conference sign ups and our 6th grade newsletter. Our newsletter will include information about ELA, math, science, and social studies, as well as general updates and upcoming dates! Your student should have brought one home last week, along with their progress report for Quarter 1. We will post all future newsletters on Classtag only.
As a reminder, students should be bringing home graded papers to show you! They can complete corrections on any paper to earn up to 1/2 credit back (homework, quizzes, tests, etc.). They should also be charging their chromebooks at home on a regular basis. Try to find a specific spot and set up a routine for checking/charging those devices.
This week in math, we are finishing Chapter 1, which is all about review, representation of numbers, characteristics of numbers, and how we can represent numbers in a variety of ways. This week, they will have a 1.2.4 Review Preview worksheet due Thursday and Chapter 1 review packet due Friday. Our test will be a team assessment this time and will take place over the course of Thursday and Friday. We will be starting Chapter 2 next week, as well as getting new seats/teams!
Struggling to help your student with homework??? Take advantage of CPM's Homework Help page! We spent time going over this a lot at the very beginning of the year, but some need a refresher! Almost all math homework assignments come from CPM, and CPM has homework help for each problem. Simply find the homework probelm (all on their textbook page!), click on the homework help link, and hints will come up for that problem. Some problems even give you a bonus hint/help! You can also access the Homework Help using the Website Links here on my website.
This week in social studies is being spent reviewing last week's work (investing the past) and starting early hominins. Students have a packet over last week's lesson to complete for homework tonight (Tuesday) and will work on the notes for our new lesson this week. Since our social studies textbook is online (TCI), students can log in at home anytime!
Have a wonderful week!
