It finally looks like we'll be getting some warmer weather again! Yay! It's also our last full week of November, with next week being a short week because of our Thanksgiving break!
As a reminder, students should be bringing home graded papers to show you! They can complete corrections on any paper to earn up to 1/2 credit back (homework, quizzes, tests, etc.). They should also be charging their chromebooks at home on a regular basis. Try to find a specific spot and set up a routine for checking/charging those devices. We are still having a number of chromebooks dying during class, so please make it a priority to talk with your student about this. This week in math, we are continuing the first few lessons of Chapter 3! Last week, we finished our work on lesson 3.1.1, using a Giant One to find equivalent fractions. This week, we are taking a look at portions as percents, connecting percents with decimals and fractions, and multiple representations of a portion. They will have homework on Monday (3.1.1 Review Preview - from Friday), Tuesday (3.1.2 Review Preview), and Thursday (3.1.3 Review Preview). We will save the 3.1.4 Review Preview assignment for next week. Struggling to help your student with homework??? Take advantage of CPM's Homework Help page! We spent time going over this a lot at the very beginning of the year, but some need a refresher! Almost all math homework assignments come from CPM, and CPM has homework help for each problem. Simply find the homework probelm (all on their textbook page!), click on the homework help link, and hints will come up for that problem. Some problems even give you a bonus hint/help! You can also access the Homework Help using the Website Links here on my website. There are also resources available for parents under the CPM (Math) Parent Resources page! This week in social studies we diving in to our Greece unit! We are starting with our geography lesson, looking at how the geography of Greece influenced settlement and way of life in ancient Greece. If we have time, we may begin the second lesson, which focuses on how democracy developed in ancient Greece. SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS! SIT Conference:
Have a fabulous week! Ms Kennell
