Somehow we are already in Quarter 4! Report cards will be sent home with your student on Friday, and we will also be having the PBIS incentive for good behavior and the school store on Friday. As a reminder, we introduced a new Classcraft challenge last week, so students should be working hard to earn that XP!
Also as a reminder, please continue to check in with your student about their chromebook, homework/absent work, Classcraft, and if they have gotten any behavior referrals that need to be signed (or detentions to be served). In math this week, we are working on connecting decimals, fractions, and percents with CPM lesson 3.1.3. This is a longer lesson than normal, so it will take us most of the week. Your student will have a homework assignment on Tuesday (3.1.3 Review Preview Part 1) and Thursday (3.1.3 Review Preview Part 2). If we have extra class time this week, we will work on a practice graph with sample science expo data, so students can see what kind of data they will need from their own project in order to create their graph. We will take one class period a couple weeks after break to work on their own data and graphs. If you student has not started their experiment yet, we are encouraging them to work on the experiment over break so that they have data for us to use in class. In social studies, students were introduced to the create projects last week, which they will be working on both at home and at school. Their rough draft of the project is due this week and the final draft will be due Tuesday, April 2 (the second day back from spring break). In spelling, we are finishing our current lists this week. Tic tac toe boards were due Friday, but we did not get our tests taken yet. The tests will now take place on the following days: today (Tuesday) will be the purple group, Wednesday will be the green group, and Thursday will be the gold group. If your student has not turned their tic tac toe boards in yet, please have them do so as soon as possible. Upcoming dates:

This week is a big week! We are in the final week of Quarter 3 and we are completing our state testing this week! With that in mind, students will need headphones that work, both for social studies and testing this week. It is also incredibly important that students have fully charged chromebooks, as we use those for testing. We also introduced a new Classcraft challenge yesterday! Students who earn at least 20,000 XP between today (March 12) and May 29 will be eligible to take an afternoon off school and go to Elevate Trampoline Park in Champaign! This is in addition to the regular 6th grade field trip. More information about pricing, conditions, and paperwork for the Classcraft challenge can be found on the flyer your student received yesterday.
Please ask your student if they have headphones/earbuds that work! Thank you! As a reminder, please continue to check in with your student about their chromebook, homework/absent work, Classcraft, and if they have gotten any behavior referrals that need to be signed (or detentions to be served). In math this week, we are looking at our new state testing (IAR instead of PARCC) and practice playing with the features. There will be no math Wednesday-Friday due to testing. In social studies, we are finishing our Egypt unit hyperdoc! The hyperdoc and god/goddess worksheet are due this Wednesday (3/13) and will be on quarter three. Students may need to work on this some at home, especially if they struggle to focus at school, leave their chromebook at home, or if they are absent. Students were introduced to the create projects yesterday, which they will work on after turning in their hyperdoc. We will continue to work on social studies the rest of the week. In spelling, we are finishing our current lists this week. Students should be working on the activities on their tic tac toe boards, which are due this Friday. We will also be taking our tests on Friday. Upcoming dates:
