We are already almost a fourth of the way through our school year! In some ways, it feels like we've been living a hybrid life for a very long time, but it also feels like the year is flying by! Check out some reminders (mostly review) and updates about what we are learning below!
As a reminder, students are still expected to check the 6th grade website every day that they are remote (Silver = Mon/Tues/Wed, Blue = Thurs/Fri/Mon). Grades are also up to date. All students should have their own student access to Skyward/Q to check their grades, so they can pull those up anytime! It is harder to keep track of work while going back and forth on in person and remote days, so it's especially important that students are checking emails, Skyward/Q, the website, and folders to make sure they are getting credit for all of their work! All work must be turned in during this week to get credit! The end of the quarter is this Fri, Oct 16!! In math this week, we are moving on to Chapter 2 - Arithmetic Strategies and Area. The first couple of lesson are a review of different forms of graphs (dot plot, bar graph, Venn diagram, histogram, and stem-and-leaf plot), which we will be covering this week. Next week, we'll start looking more at area and multiplication. Their work on their upcoming remote days will be the 2.1.1 and 2.1.2 Review Preview pages, as well as a prime/composite/prime factorization quiz. In science, students should have completed their boat assignments last week. Any late boat work should be turned in this week, since it is counting towards quarter one. One their upcoming remote days, they will be moving into our last lesson in the design thinking unit, which asks students to save a sloth in a zoo from a tree, while also keeping him safe from the alligators under the tree. Students will be working through the design thinking process to brainstorm and create a way to save the sloth! Building for this experiment is optional, since the materials are a little harder to come by, but I'd love to see anything they do create! General Updates:
Upcoming Dates:
Have a wonderful week! Reach out to any of the teachers if you have questions! Ms Kennell
