We have somehow already made it to September! Please remember to keep checking in with your student about their mask (is it fitting okay, do you have enough, etc.) and reminding them to wear a clean one each day. Most students are doing an excellent job wearing them correctly at school!
In math this week, we are finally getting online access to our ebook, so students will be able to pull up lessons, homework assignments, and homework help at home (if needed). We are continuing to review some 5th grade material and preview some upcoming 6th grade material. We'll already be halfway through the chapter after next week!! In the next couple of weeks, we will also be working on completing our Aimsweb benchmarking assessments. Students will complete these on their chromebooks during class on their in person days. In science, we are getting set up with our Mosa Mack accounts this week, as well as starting our first unit, which is all about design thinking. Their first lesson is all about building tall towers, so we are looking at what makes a successful tower, as well as having students build their own! Students will be asked to build a tower at home on their 2 remote days and complete a Google slide about their tower. They will be sent home with a list of some basic supplies, which are mostly standard house/kitchen supplies, though they will also be given some suggestions on materials that they can substitute with if you do not have the materials at home. Unfortunately, it's just not possible for us to complete a project like this in person due to our time restraints and our limitations with sharing materials. At home, students will also be able to ask for assistance from a family member, which should make the process smoother. Feel free to even turn it into a family competition or collaborative activity! Happy building! General Updates:

Have a wonderful week! Ms Kennell
