It's the second week of November already and we're moving right along through quarter 2! Grades are being entered for Quarter 2, with some students starting to have quite a few missing assignments. As a reminder, grades are always changing, so checking them regularly is a must! Students can also do corrections on any paper to help raise their grades. They should be bringing home graded papers, so ask them about their papers if you aren't seeing them! Once grades are entered online, I make sure to pass them back!
As a reminder, students who are absent for any reason (quarantined, appointments, sick, etc.) should check out the 6th Grade Google Site each day and complete the posted activities. There will NEVER be a day where students do not have any assigned work. If your student has missed a week or more, they will not have time to get caught up at school and will need to work on the assignments at home. With all of our lessons building on the previous lessons, it is very difficult for students who fall way behind. If your student has missed time, talk with them about their work, which starts by looking at the 6th grade site! This week in math, we are finishing our review on adding and subtracting fractions, as well as moving into the second half of Chapter 3, which focuses on integers and how numbers move on a number line. We will be completing lessons 3.2.1, 3.2.2, and 3.2.3 this week, as well as the review preview assignments for 3.2.1 and 3.2.2. At the end of this post, there will be a list of the homework that is expected to be completed throughout the week. Check it out! You can see an updated list of missing work on Skyward. You can also see a day by day breakdown of classwork and homework on the 6th grade Google site! This week in science, we'll be continuing our Claim-Evidence-Reasoning and the Scientific Method unit. This week, we will be finishing our work on Lesson 2: The Lab, where we will test the claims made in a paper towel commercial! Steps 5 and steps 7 for Lesson 2: The Lab should be completed this week.
