Welcome back! I hope everyone had a wonderful and restful spring break! As we continue with Quarter 4, please remind your student to check about missing work, especially if they are in a sport!
As a reminder, if your student is absent, we will still be updating the 6th grade website daily. Even though we are back in person 5 days a week, that information is helpful for absent students, as well as parents, since it lists what we are working on in class and what students have for homework each night. If students are at home due to an illness or because they have to quarantine, they should use the website, then Google classroom. Emails can be answered as soon as possible, with video calls set up after school if necessary. In science this week, we will finish our unit by completing Lesson 3: The Engineer. Students will be using their work with weather and fronts to try to forecast the weather for a selected area. For this week, they'll complete the research and planning (steps 1-3 on Mosa Mack). Next week, we will finish the weather report visual (step 4 on Mosa Mack) and take the unit test. Any old weather work should be completed as soon as possible. In math this week, we are doing a little bit of review first before continuing with the last part of Chapter 5. On Monday, we reviewed multiplying and dividing decimals and completed an escape room, which is completely digital. On Tuesday, we will review ratios by completing a ratio escape room, which is also completely digital. Wednesday will be spent reviewing how to find area and rearranging shapes so that we can find the area easier (CPM Lesson 5.3.1 - Rearranging Areas). Wednesday we will be using a Jamboard and a resource page, though students working from home can still complete the lesson. Wednesday will have an additional homework assignment (5.3.1 Review Preview, Jamboard or paper). Then on Thursday, we'll be working on science, since it will be the final day of the week. There is no school on Friday (Good Friday). Next week, we'll finish up the remaining lessons in chapter 5, which continue to focus on area of non-rectangular shapes. Math homework for this week:
Thank you for your continued support and have a fantastic week! Ms Kennell
