Monday, we celebrated Veteran's Day at BRIJHS! In the morning, we had the privelege of singing to and recognizing our area veterans. We were also able to listen to some of them share their stories. We thank you for your service! On Wednesday, grades 6-8 will also be participating in an assembly/program called Making it Cool to Be Kind, which will take almost our entire school day.
We have started another Classcraft challenge this week! The top 10 XP earners this week out of the entire grade will earn a pizza party next week! Students earn XP through good behavior choices, getting their assignment notebook signed, turning in homework, and working hard! Ask your student what level they are on, what incentives they have already learned, and how they are doing this week! In math this week, we are continuing to work on the concept of division, how fractions are really just division problems, and where the standard algorithm for division comes from. We are also working with ordering fractions using a number line during our number talks. Students have 6.1.2 Review Preview for homework today (Monday) and will have 6.1.3 Review Preview homework on Thursday. In social studies, we are getting ready to start ancient Greece! We will begin by looking at the geography of ancient Greece and how geography influenced the settlement and way of life in ancient Greece. We will be using our social studies notebooks and TCI Lesson 25 this week. For spelling this week, we are finishing our current list! We will be finishing our rainbow word sort, working on an ABC order sort, and finishing with spelling tests on Friday. Upcoming dates:
Have a wonderful week! Ms. Kennell
