Happy February! As sports begin to take off for some of the 6th graders, make sure students are getting late work completed ASAP and are joining all video calls on Mondays!
Also as a reminder, if your student is absent, we will still be updating the 6th grade website daily, as well as providing any necessary videos (should be posted by 3:30 pm at the latest). In science today, we continued working on our Water Cycle unit! Students should have completed all five steps of the Lesson 2: The Make assignment, where they travelled through the steps of the water cycle, looking at the different ways water travels (not always in the same order/pattern), and analyzing the importance of the different steps. We will continue to work on this unit next Monday. In math this week, we will be starting and finishing the first half of chapter 4, which is all about variables and expressions! Tuesday will be 4.1.1 (introduction to variables), Wednesday will focus on 4.1.2 (writing equivalent expressions), and Thursday will be 4.1.3 (using variables to generalize). On Friday, we will work on writing expressions when given a description using a fun activity! The second half of chapter 4 is about ratios and enlargements/reductions, which we will work on next week. Math homework for this week:
Thank you for your continued support! Have a wonderful week! Ms Kennell

Slight change of plans! We will be saving 4.1.3 for next week. Instead, on Thursday we will be completing an expressions puzzle in class and have an expressions maze Jamboard for homework. On Friday, we'll be spending class time working on science!!
