We have already entered the first week of September! It's crazy how quickly things change around here! This week, your students are getting their chromebooks, getting their pictures taken, and signing up for Classcraft and Google classroom! Parents can join Classcraft, and we will have codes for this soon, but are trying to get the student accounts all corrected first before sending these home.
In math this week, we have started our CPM lessons. We have begun by diving into characteristics of whole numbers (things like factors, products, arrays, remainders, and searching for patterns in numbers). We have already finished Lesson 1.2.3 (homework was due Wednesday) and are working on Lesson 1.2.4 (part 1 homework due Friday, part 2 due next Tuesday). Next week, we will working on setting up our online accounts for CPM. In social studies, we are finishing our geography work and preparing for our test! We spent yesterday reviewing everything, today on climate zones, and will do one final latitude and longitude webquest tomorrow on the chromebooks. Students should be studying this material, as they will have a test over everything so far on Friday (all 6th graders). In spelling, we received our first individualized list this week. We will work on a 5 day cycle, with test dates varying depending on our weeks. This week, students made cards for their spelling words, completed a word sort in their notebooks, and will be completing speed sorts and rainbow words in their notebooks the rest of the week. We are currently look at a spelling test on Tuesday or Wednesday next week. Upcoming dates:
