Quarter 2 is well underway! Boys basketball has started and other activities are picking up speed. This is a great age to start learning how to balance the fun things with our school work. Paper report cards will be coming home with students on Friday, if you have not attended a conference. We also have our second night of parent teacher conferences on Tuesday. If you have a time scheduled, we look forward to seeing and talking with you!
As Ms Brutlag sent out earlier, we will not be doing a Halloween party in 6th grade, so please do not send costumes or treats. We will, however, be watching a movie for part of the afternoon. As a reminder, students who are absent for any reason (quarantined, appointments, sick, etc.) should check out the 6th Grade Google Site each day and complete the posted activities. As a reminder, Skyward/Q will give you access to your student's grades at any time. If your student has late work or corrections to do, they need to be completed as soon as possible. This week in math, we are continuing Chapter 3, focusing on the relationships between fractions, decimals, and percents. For this week, we will be completing the final two lessons on portions, as well as three homework assignments. At the end of this post, there will be a list of the homework that is expected to be completed throughout the week. Check it out! You can also see a day by day breakdown of classwork and homework on the 6th grade Google site! This week in science, we'll be continuing our Claim-Evidence-Reasoning and the Scientific Method unit. This week, we will finish Lesson 1: The Solve Phenomenon, trying to become more comfortable identifying the different parts of an experiment. We will also be starting Lesson 2: The Lab, where we will test the claims made in a paper towel commercial! Steps 6-7 for Lesson 1: The Solve Phenomenon and steps 1-4 for Lesson 2: The Lab should be completed this week. Math/Science homework this week:
