Welcome back to person learning this week! We have had good attendance while remote and cannot wait to see everyone in person tomorrow!
As a reminder, if your student is absent, we will still be updating the 6th grade website daily, as well as providing any necessary videos (should be posted by 3:30 pm at the latest). In science today, we started a new unit - The Water Cycle! We started by identifying some vocabulary words, which students should continue to practice using Quizlet over the coming weeks. Our first lesson focused on a water park mystery and exploring where water comes from, as well as the different kinds/forms of water. All students should have completed the five steps of the Lesson 1: The Solve Animation and copied down the vocabulary for the unit. We will continue with the next lesson during our next set of remote Monday calls. In math this week, we will be continuing to review converting between fractions, decimals, and percents with an escape room and Khan Academy assignments. On Wednesday, we will complete the winter Aimsweb benchmark testing, then exploring a number line flip activity, which will lead into the final half of chapter 3, which is all about integers, absolute value, and coordinate graphing. We will be covering CPM Lesson 3.2.1 (Addition, Subtraction, and Opposites) on Thursday and CPM Lesson 3.2.2 (Locating Negative Numbers) on Friday. After that, there are only two more new lessons for this chapter, along with some review concepts, so we will be finished with this chapter and ready for a review/test the end of the month. Thank you for your continued support! Have a wonderful week! Ms Kennell
