Well, last week was certainly interesting! I hope everyone was able to stay healthy over Thanksgiving break! We are planning on being back in person starting on Tuesday, with students completing meets and remote work on Monday. As a reminder, the 6th grade website is the best place to look for daily directions, reminders, and updates about learning! This is also where your student should start each day that we are remote or when they are absent for any reason. If your student did not complete work while remote recently, remind them to get on the 6th grade website and work on their late work! Thanks for any help with this! We are in the final 3 week stretch before Christmas break and the end of Quarter 2 is coming up quickly!!
This week in math, we are kicking off our next chapter, which should be completed before we leave for Christmas break. This chapter focuses on variables and expressions in the first half and ratios in the second half. On Monday during the Google meet, students worked with Ms Kennell to complete the first lesson 4.1.1 - Introduction to Variables. If students missed the meet, there is a key with hints to help them along. Students were also expected to complete four Khan Academy assignments (2 video, 2 practice) on dividing whole numbers, which should be a review from last year. On Tuesday, we will work on lesson 4.1.2 - Writing Equivalent Expressions. Wednesday will be spent completing the first two homework assignments for this chapter (4.1.1 and 4.1.2 Review Preview). Then on Thursday and Friday we will work on lesson 4.1.3 - Using Variables to Generalize. This lesson is long, so it will take us two full class periods. At the end of this post, there will be a list of the homework that is expected to be completed throughout the week. Check it out! You can see an updated list of missing work on Skyward. You can also see a day by day breakdown of classwork and homework on the 6th grade Google site! This week in science, we'll be finishing the lesson we were working on before Thanksgiving, which focuses on improving a balloon model rocket. We will be completing our final rebuild and testing on Tuesday/Wednesday, presenting our findings on Thursday, and checking grades/working on late work on Friday. Next week, we will start a new unit on genetic variations! Math/Science classwork/homework this week:

If you have any questions, please reach out and let us know! Let's have a wonderful week! Ms Kennell
