Wow! This first month has just flown by! We are settling into a routine with math, working through our CPM text, either on the computer or on paper copies, with high quality math discussion happening! Each lesson is currently taking us 2-4 class periods, which we will hopefully start to work through faster now that we are becoming familiar with the program. Homework assignments are always able to be corrected and turned by in for extra points. Currently, we've worked on finding area using multiple methods, and multiplying using multiple methods. Ask your student to teach you about generic rectangles or our daily math talks! Don't forget that CPM has a homework help tool as well (link in 'website links').
In spelling, we have been practicing the different kinds of sorts, as well as taking spelling inventories to determine our groups and spelling lists. Those will be coming to your students this week! EEK! Social Studies has moved into our Mesopotamia unit. We've talked about what makes a civilization, what some key factors are, where Mesopotamia is located on a map (and how that compares to modern day countries) and will be looking at specific cities over the coming days. On Friday, there is a map quiz (continents, oceans, latitude, longitude, and North America). Remember, spelling counts! Upcoming dates to remember:
