Welcome back to in person learning again! As we try our best to stay in person, please help us out by reminding your student of the expectations while at school (mask over the nose, at least 3 ft apart, hands/feet to ourselves, wash hands regularly). We are reinforcing these regularly at school, but it doesn't hurt to go over them at home too!
As a reminder, with Q3 still in the early stages, be taking a look at grades and missing work so that no one falls behind early. Grades are being updated regularly, with Google classroom as an option for grades/missing work as well. The 6th grade website is the best place to look for daily directions, reminders, and updates about learning! This is also where your student should start each day that we are remote or when they are absent for any reason. This week in math, we are continuing to focus on reviewing, as well as starting our next CPM chapter. On Monday, we reviewed how to divide decimals with some notes and a quizizz assignment. On Tuesday, students will complete an escape room over multiplying and dividing decimals. We will then start Ch 5 of CPM on Wednesday, which is over multiplying fractions and area. Wednesday we will complete lesson 5.1.1 (representing fraction multiplication) and on Thursday we will complete lesson 5.1.2 (describing parts of parts). Both lessons will have handouts and a Jamboard for those who are learning from home. On Friday, we will complete the homework assignments for those two lessons (5.1.1 and 5.1.2 Review Preview, online if remote). At the end of this post, there will be a list of the homework that is expected to be completed throughout the week. Check it out! You can also see a day by day breakdown of classwork and homework on the 6th grade Google site! This week in science, we'll be finishing our unit on genetic variations! On Monday, students were introduced to their project for Lesson 3: The Engineer - create a hypothetical problem for a race of aliens, as well as a genetic code that would help solve that problem. They will then create a genotype for the alien baby, as well as the two parents. This written work, as well as a family tree, will take Tuesday - Thursday. On Friday, students will take an open note test on the entire Genetic Variation Unit. All work for this unit should be completed by the end of the week. Math/Science classwork/homework this week:
