We survived one day of E-learning already this week! Hopefully we can get all of our quarantined students back quickly too! Grades have started over, and report cards for Quarter 2 were sent home with students on Friday. If your student was absent, they will get it when they return. As a reminder, the 6th grade website is the best place to look for daily directions, reminders, and updates about learning! This is also where your student should start each day that we are remote or when they are absent for any reason.
This week in math, we are continuing to focus on reviewing last semester and working on our teamwork skills! During our video call on Monday, students worked with Ms Kennell on an evaluating algebraic expressions murder mystery! They also completed some Khan Academy assignments over writing expressions with variables. On Tuesday, we will be benchmark testing (if in person) and remote students will be getting a head start on the activities for Wednesday! The hope is that they won't miss anything while they do their makeup testing once back. For in person students, we will be completing another murder mystery on Wednesday (Who Killed Mr X Pression), focusing on writing algebraic expressions, as well as completing a maze activity. On Thursday, students will complete a simplifying expressions escape room and a simplifying expressions riddle. Then on Friday, we will work on evaluating (solving) algebraic expressions again with an escape room and riddle. Next week, we'll do a little more work with expressions before moving on to operations with decimals (add/subtract/multiply/divide). At the end of this post, there will be a list of the homework that is expected to be completed throughout the week. Check it out! You can also see a day by day breakdown of classwork and homework on the 6th grade Google site! This week in science, we'll be continuing our unit on genetic variations! Monday and Tuesday will be spent finishing the third lesson (Lesson 2: Lab) by creating family trees for our alien families and answering the lesson questions. Then Wednesday - Friday will be spent working on Lesson 2: Extension, where we'll look at some of our own class traits, as well as solving a mystery! We will need part of next week to finish this lesson. Math/Science classwork/homework this week:

If you have any questions, please reach out and let us know! Let's have a wonderful week! Ms Kennell
