Happy four day week! Easter and the four day weekend are fast approaching, and we are hard at work in 6th grade! Please check with your student and on Q to see if they have any missing work, as missing assignments early in the quarter have a huge impact on their grade. Students can also do corrections on any assignment, which is a great way to earn some extra credit and boost their grade! As a reminder, we also offer ASHH (after school homework help) most Tuesdays and Thursdays after school until 4:00, which any student can stay for to get extra help on homework or just have a quiet place to work on homework!
Also as a reminder, please continue to check in with your student about their chromebook, homework/absent work, Classcraft, and if they have gotten any behavior referrals that need to be signed (or detentions to be served). In math this week, we have finished (or should have finished) our graphs for the science expo. Those will be printed for your student and given to them to attach directly to their board in the next week or so. We are also moving from our focus of fractions, decimals, and percents into work with ratios - how to write ratios, describe the relationship, and reducing/enlarging a figure. We are working on Lesson 4.2.1 and 4.2.2 this week, looking specifically at enlarging and reducing. Ask your student what figure we have been enlarging! Your student will have a homework assignment on Tuesday (4.2.1 Review Preview), but all other CPM homework assignments will wait until next week. If your student has not completed one of the graph projects on Google classroom, or if they have missing/absent work, please help them get it completed as soon as possible. In social studies, we are beginning what will probably be our final ancient civilization... ROME! This week, we are focusing primarily on a map of Rome, as well as a KWL chart. We will then focus on the geography and early development of Rome (TCI Lesson 32). We will continue working on Lesson 32 next week as well. In spelling, we are continuing our boards from earlier this month. Tic tac toe boards and spelling tests will be due next Wednesday, April 24th. If your student did not turn in their last tic tac toe boards in yet, please have them do so as soon as possible. Upcoming dates:
