It's the fifth week of Quarter 2 and the last full week before Thanksgiving break! Progress reports for Quarter 2 will be coming home soon, but grades are always changing, so checking them regularly is a must! Students can also do corrections on any paper to help raise their grades. They should be bringing home graded papers, so ask them about their papers if you aren't seeing them! Once grades are entered online, I make sure to pass them back!
As a reminder, students who are absent for any reason (quarantined, appointments, sick, etc.) should check out the 6th Grade Google Site each day and complete the posted activities. There will NEVER be a day where students do not have any assigned work. If your student has missed a week or more, they will not have time to get caught up at school and will need to work on the assignments at home. With all of our lessons building on the previous lessons, it is very difficult for students who fall way behind. If your student has missed time, talk with them about their work, which starts by looking at the 6th grade site! This week in math, we are finishing our work with chapter 3, completing our learning about absolute value, coordinate graphing on a four quadrant grid, and distance between points on a coordinate grid. Monday, we completed our last lesson, Lesson 3.2.4. For the rest of the week, we will be completing the 3.2.3 and 3.2.4 review preview assignments, taking some more notes on coordinate graphing, practice coordinate graphing, and really focus in on distance between points. We will then be taking our chapter 3 test on Monday next week. At the end of this post, there will be a list of the homework that is expected to be completed throughout the week. Check it out! You can see an updated list of missing work on Skyward. You can also see a day by day breakdown of classwork and homework on the 6th grade Google site! This week in science, we'll be continuing our Claim-Evidence-Reasoning and the Scientific Method unit by starting our last lesson - Lesson 3: The Engineer. This week and next, students will be working to design a balloon rocket model that can travel more than 287 cm while carrying 10 grams of cargo! Steps 1-5 for Lesson 2: The Engineer should be completed this week. Math/Science classwork/homework this week:
