Happy crazy homecoming week! There have been many updates this week about homecoming dress up days, the pep rally/dismissal on Friday, and the district evacuation drill next week. Please make sure you are receiving district communication and have filled out the forms to send back with your student! As a reminder, please sign up for parent teacher conferences and contact your student's homeroom teacher if you are unable to do so.
As a reminder, students should be bringing home graded papers to show you! They can complete corrections on any paper to earn up to 1/2 credit back (homework, quizzes, tests, etc.). They should also be charging their chromebooks at home on a regular basis. Try to find a specific spot and set up a routine for checking/charging those devices. This week in math, we have started Chapter 2! Students have new table groups, new roles in their group, and we are off to a great start! This chapter is about Arithmetic Strategies and Area, with the first couple of lessons evaluating the strengths and weaknesses of various graphical representations of data. Students will have a 2.1.1 Review Preview worksheet due Wednesday and 2.1.2 Review Preview worksheet due Friday. Students should also be working on any late work and corrections that they still need to do! Struggling to help your student with homework??? Take advantage of CPM's Homework Help page! We spent time going over this a lot at the very beginning of the year, but some need a refresher! Almost all math homework assignments come from CPM, and CPM has homework help for each problem. Simply find the homework probelm (all on their textbook page!), click on the homework help link, and hints will come up for that problem. Some problems even give you a bonus hint/help! You can also access the Homework Help using the Website Links here on my website. This week in social studies is being spent reviewing last week's work (early hominins) and starting our next lesson, From Hunters and Gatherers to Farmers. Students will work on the notes for our new lesson this week to learn how the change to farming influenced the people and their lifestyles! Since our social studies textbook is online (TCI), students can log in at home anytime! General Updates:
Have a wonderful week! Ms. Kennell
