Good afternoon! Happy March! The temperatures are rising and track season has begun, so spring is in the air!
This week in math, we are continuing with our last section in chapter 5, which focuses on finding the area of different shapes, usually by rearranging the area into rectangles. Monday and Tuesday will be spent on lesson 5.3.1 (rearranging areas), Wednesday and Thursday on 5.3.2 (area of a parallelogram), and beginning 5.3.3 (area of a triangle) on Friday. If everything progresses as planned, we should be finished with chapter 5 by Thursday of next week, with a test following! This week, students will have homework on Tuesday (5.3.1 Review Preview) and Thursday (5.3.2 Review Preview). Students should also be working on corrections and late/absent work! We finished our math homework challenge for the month of February with the following percentages of homework turned in on time: 6K-74%, 6A-64%, and 6L-73%. Ms Kennell's homeroom barely won the Krispy Kreme donuts! Since the students are enjoying it so much, we are continuing again in March! Please encourage your students to complete their homework on time to help their class win! This week in social studies we are finishing our work on how the daily life of Egyptians was influenced by their social class. Students are working in groups to create a visual display, which they will share with their classmates before completing the note pages. They will have a lesson packet to complete as well. We will be getting ready to start another project later this week. In spelling, students received their new lists last week, so all work should be completed (at home) by this Friday, March 6, with spelling tests taking place on that day as well. IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS! AR:
Have a fantastic week! Ms Kennell
