Somehow, we are already at the beginning of Quarter 2! Time is flying this year! This week, students will be getting report cards sent home (Friday), we have box tops due (also Friday), and we are working on a Classcraft challenge! As a homeroom, we are competing this week against the other 6th grade homerooms to see which class can earn the most XP points! Students will earn the points individually and as a class, with the average per student at the end of the week determining the winning homeroom! 1st place prize is donuts, XP, and gold pieces, 2nd place earns XP and gold pieces, and 3rd place will earn nothing extra. We are hoping that this challenge will lead to an amazing week!
In math this week, we are finishing our work with the Giant One and moving on to multiplying fractions. Students will have homework on multiplying fractions either Wednesday or Thursday this week, with the possibility of a review assignment as well. In social studies, our focus for the week is Ancient Sumer and what characteristics are needed to be called a civilization. We will spend the entire week on this lesson, with homework assignments to finish any notebook pages we did not finish in class. In spelling, my homeroom is taking a test today, with a new list coming later this week. We will continue with activities we have used in the past, while also taking some spelling time to work on behaviors and circles. Our test will not take place until the end of next week at the earliest. Upcoming dates:
Have a fabulous week! Ms. Kennell
