Final week of January?!? What?!? We are working on adjusting to all students on half of the building still, but things are starting to settle into a routine!
This week in math, we are jumping into the next half of our CPM chapter. The second half of the chapter focuses on ratios, specifically how to write ratios and how to use ratios to enlarge and reduce figures accurately. On Monday, we worked as a class to enlarge a mystery mascot picture (lesson 4.2.1). Our mascot (a dragon) ended up being six times larger than the original! They looked amazing! I'll work on getting some images sent out once we have them all hung up for display! Tuesday and Wednesday will be spent on lesson 4.2.2, which provides students with opportunities to practice enlarging and reducing triangles and rectangles, as well as determining if a shape was enlarged/reduced correctly. On Thursday and Friday we will work on determining the ratios used in enlarged/reduced figures, which is lesson 4.2.3. This week, students will have homework on Monday (4.2.1 Review Preview part 1) and Wednesday (4.2.2 Review Preview). Next week, we will be finishing the final lesson of Chapter 4 on Monday/Tuesday and preparing for a Chapter 4 test (either Thursday or Friday). This week in social studies we are finishing our final lesson on ancient Greece, looking at the legacy of ancient Greece and how it influences our lives today! Students will also be taking a test of ancient Greece on Thursday (all classes). Friday will be the beginning of our ancient Egypt unit! IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS! AR:
Have a fantastic week! Ms Kennell
