Somehow we are already in the final week of February! With that in mind, we are also nearing the end of the quarter. If your student has questions about late work or grades, now is a great time to ask those questions! This week we will also be participating in the FFA dress up days, which are posted below.
As a reminder, if your student is absent, we will still be updating the 6th grade website daily, as well as providing any videos (if necessary). Information also went out recently about the upcoming change to Mondays. We will continue to be remote (doing video calls) for the next few weeks, but will start back in person on the final Monday before spring break. The plan is still to get out at 2:20 each day. Students were also asked to tentatively sign up for girls basketball and boys/girls track. 6th graders are welcome (and encouraged) to participate! In science this week, we will be starting our next unit on Weather. In it, the students will go through a progression of three inquiry lessons that focus on temperature, pressure, and the corresponding weather patterns. Lesson 1: The Solve will begin on Friday, which also includes our vocabulary work for this unit. Any old water cycle work should be completed as soon as possible. In math this week, we are continuing our work with ratios that started last week. The plan is to complete lesson 4.2.2 (Enlarging and Reducing Figures) on Tuesday, 4.2.3 (Enlargement and Reduction Ratios) on Wednesday, and 4.2.4 (Ratios in Other Situations) on Thursday. Those will be the final lessons in chapter 4, which means we will be reviewing and taking a test in the early parts of next week. Homework for these three lessons will be on paper again. Math homework for this week:
**This is the last week for our February homework challenge. The students seem to be enjoying the competition! Thank you for your continued support and have a fantastic week! Ms Kennell
