So far, we are still in person! This final week before Christmas break, we will be wrapping up units, checking in on late work, and doing our best to continue learning, no matter where we are! As a reminder, if your student has to be out during this week, the 6th grade website will still be updated and recordings of the lessons will be posted after school each day. Students who are absent for any reason are expected to watch the recordings before completing the assignments for the day. As always, if you have questions, please reach out!
For math this week, we are finishing our work on representing portions (parts of a whole) using fractions, decimals, and percents (and occasionally word form). Since some students are in person and some are still remote, our lesson work will still take place on Jamboards, which are posted each morning. For the homework assignments, students will have the option to complete them on paper or a Jamboard. Fully remote students will complete the assignments electronically (Jamboard). This week, will are working on lessons 3.1.5, and 3.1.6, as well as a mid-unit check in during class on Thursday. Students will have homework on Tuesday (3.1.5 Review Preview) and Wednesday (3.1.6 Review Preview), with the expectation that they are also completing any necessary late work (check Skyward and Google Classroom). In addition, students were given some Khan Academy assignments a couple of weeks ago over Greatest Common Factor. These are due this week (Thursday). Students who were not finished with them yet on Monday received an email reminder as well. As a reminder, all work for Quarter 3 should be submitted before break (Friday, Dec 18). Since our primary focus is math and ELA right now, we are not pushing out new science and social studies materials. Because of this, if students wish to raise those grades, they will need to email their teacher about redoing individual assignments. Thank you for your help and support as we work on continuing our education in person or remotely. If you have any questions, please reach out! Have a wonderful week! Ms Kennell
