Happy Monday! This school week is only four days long, but they are a busy four days! On Thursday this week, we will be participating in a district evacuation drill. If you have not signed and returned a form for this yet, please talk with your student and do so. If you have and are participating, thank you! We are also trying to finish our signups for parent teacher conferences. If you have not signed up yet, please do so as soon as possible, as times are filling up!
As a reminder, students should be bringing home graded papers to show you! They can complete corrections on any paper to earn up to 1/2 credit back (homework, quizzes, tests, etc.). They should also be charging their chromebooks at home on a regular basis. Try to find a specific spot and set up a routine for checking/charging those devices. We are still having a number of chromebooks dying during class, so please make it a priority to talk with your student about this. This week in math, we are continuing Chapter 2! As a continuation of last week, we reviewed the five types of graphs we had been learning about and spent Monday working on a histogram activity on Desmos. This link is on Google Classroom, so students can continue this work at home for extra practice! On Tuesday and Wednesday this week, we will begin 2.2.1, which is the first lesson about area, specifically focusing on how we measure and record it. Students will only have one homework assignment this week - 2.2.1 Review Preview worksheet due Thursday. Students should also be working on any late work and corrections that they still need to do! Struggling to help your student with homework??? Take advantage of CPM's Homework Help page! We spent time going over this a lot at the very beginning of the year, but some need a refresher! Almost all math homework assignments come from CPM, and CPM has homework help for each problem. Simply find the homework probelm (all on their textbook page!), click on the homework help link, and hints will come up for that problem. Some problems even give you a bonus hint/help! You can also access the Homework Help using the Website Links here on my website. This week in social studies is being spent continuing last week's work (From Hunters and Gatherers to Farmers). Students will work on the notes to learn how the change to farming influenced the people and their lifestyles! Since our social studies textbook is online (TCI), students can log in at home anytime! We will also be completing some review of this lesson by discussing and answering some additional questions, as well as playing the review game for this lesson. If time allows, we will begin our fourth lesson this week. General Updates:
Have a fabulous week! Ms. Kennell
