Happy second week of April! This week, the PBIS committee is holding a Penny War! Students are invited to bring their change/dollar bills to donate to the baseball team jars (pennies and bills are positive points for the team, while silver coins are negatives for the teams - so, Ms Kennell will be adding her pennies to the Cubs jar, and her silver coins to the Cardinals jar! Go Cubs!)
This week, we are also collecting chaperone forms from parents interested in being a chaperone for our field trip in May. All interested parents/guardians need to have the form returned by Wednesday to be entered into our drawing. This week in math, we are finishing up our graphing unit. We have been working on mean, median, mode, and range, with today's lesson focusing on deviation from the mean. We will also be discussing box plots this week and completing our graphs for the Science Expo. Students need to have their data from their Expo experiment completed by the due date (Wednesday, April 11) so we can complete their graphs in class. Next week, we will be starting an expressions unit, and my homeroom will have a guest teacher (the fabulous Dr Pulley!) next Tuesday for one math lesson. In social studies, we are currently learning about Judaism. Today, we will finish talking about the important historical figures of Judaism and their contributions to the religion, with our second of two lessons about Judaism starting on Wednesday. We also started a new map this week (Australia and Oceania) and will have a map quiz next Friday (April 20). In spelling, we are continuing our current lists, with two groups taking a spelling test this week and the rest taking their test next week. Upcoming dates:
